Let's play in Altötting!

Have you ever thought about how great it would be to be a child again? No worries, duties, responsibilities. And time would pass with fun and light-heartedness... Holidays are certainly a time that encourages such reflections.

Today we invite all children and adults to Altötting, where you can visit the unique PLAYMOBIL toys exhibition: PLAYMOBIL-Spielgeschichte(n) will be inaugurated on August 15.
The exhibition is addressed to everyone: both small and large ones. To those who haven't grown up yet and to those who don't want to grow up. To those who spend their time having fun and to those who, despite their age, have not lost their "inner child" and still like to forget themselves sometimes and play like children.

These world-famous and valued by many young and slightly older builders – PLAYMOBIL-toys were created in 1974 in Zirndorf in Bavaria, Germany. Since then, plastic figures with a height of 7.5 cm have allowed millions of children and adults around the world to play creatively.

Starting on August 15, Oliver Schaffer, an artist from Hamburg, will present colorful PLAYMOBIL-dioramas in Altötting: historical worlds, scenes from city life, fantasy lands. The Altötting City Gallery turns into a real kingdom of imagination and a place of creative fun.

According to the description of the PLAYMOBIL-Spielgeschichte(n) exhibition organizers: Oliver Schaffer creates unique exhibitions from thousands of PLAYMOBIL-figurines. He grew up in Kiel and of course played with PLAYMOBIL as a child. In 2009, he showed part of his collection at Paris's Musée des Arts Décoratifs in the west wing of the world-famous Louvre. Today, Schaffer is a successful exhibition artist and official PLAYMOBIL brand ambassador, owning the largest PLAYMOBIL collection in the world with over 300,000 figures and over 1,000,000 individual parts, and wowing over 5 million visitors at 51 exhibitions.

In addition to admiring these unique collections, both young and old visitors will be able to indulge in fun. Special tables will be prepared where everyone will be able to play with toys, because, as true enthusiasts of this form of relaxation and detachment from everyday life say: "PLAYMOBIL is more than a toy. PLAYMOBIL is the joy of life and inspiration.”

The exhibition will be open to the public from August 15 to November 12, 2023 at the Stadtgalerie Altötting, Papst-Benedikt-Platz. The exhibition is being created with the kind support of the Horst Brandstätter Group.
