The FIL Natural Track competition is most popular in the Alpine countries, where the tradition of sledding dates back centuries.
What makes this event special is the fact that the races take place on natural ice tracks. This gives the event a unique character and requires the competitors to have special skills in adapting to the changing ice conditions.
Participants race on special vehicles resembling sleds, reaching very high speeds, and the competition is extremely fierce.
In this unique sporting discipline, we distinguish several categories: singles, in which competitors descend lying on their stomachs, doubles, in which, similarly to singles, but a two-person crew sits on one vehicle, and sprints, i.e. short, dynamic races on short sections of the track.
The event is organized by the international sports federation FIL Natural Track and the event is held as part of the World Cup competitions.
For those of you who want to see the best representatives of this discipline compete, we publish the event program and of course we cordially invite you to Mariazell!
